Austin Packer Amy Kelly went into Friday's individual Section 1AA tennis finals against rival Christina Keesey with the opportunity to not only avenge her sub-section loss to the Northfield freshman last Thursday, but to also advance to the upcoming state tennis championships. Kelly came up short, losing to Keesey 6-3, 6-3.

Despite the loss, Kelly had a great year on the court posting a 19-5 season record. Her only losses came from Rochester Mayo's top-seeded Caitlin Loprinzi, who she lost to in the semi-final round on Wednesday and Keesey.

During the match, Keesey was able to keep Kelly from winning crucial points that would have given her games, but instead she was able to fend off Kelly's attack to earn herself a trip to the state finals.

"Amy is frustrated with herself, but she is a great tennis player.

So is Keesey," remarked Austin Tennis coach Dave Handeland.
