The Lyle/Pacelli football team went into the first round of the 1A Sectional Finals on fire as they scored nine touchdowns and gained over 500 total all-purpose yards for the second straight game. The No. 6 seed Minnesota Academy for the Deaf mustered only 170 total yards of offense, as No. 3 seeded Lyle/Pacelli won Tuesday night by a 62-6 score.

Chris Bergstrom had another stellar night, carrying the ball 10 times for 187 yards and one touchdown. Josh Baumann touched the ball 18 times for 97 yards and a touchdown and Kellen Blaser handled the pigskin 12 times for 83 yards. Ben Boyd carried the ball four times for 32 yards and a touchdown, while teammate Mark Van Winter had three touches for 32 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Jake Kaput went 6 for 10 for 120 yards, four passing and one running touchdowns and no interceptions. Kaput also ran the ball two times for 15 yards.
Nels Nelson led the receiving attack with three receptions for 69 yards and one touchdown. Joey Greibrok had one reception for 16 yards and a TD. Boyd had one reception for 28 yards.
Bergstrom also contributed to the game by getting two sacks. Kaput and Baumann each had fumble recoveries.
"Our line really controlled the game tonight," said coach Mark Buntje. "They played a great game."
The Trojans only score came off a kickoff return in which Lance Gonzales ran 97 yards for the touchdown in the second quarter.
Lyle/Pacelli will advance to the next round and will play again Saturday against No. 2 seededed Grand Meadow. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
