Lyle/Pacelli boys blasted out by Bethany Academy

Whatever momentum Lyle/Pacelli had coming into the postseason quickly disappeared Tuesday night. Bethany Academy used some tough defense to build an early lead on their way to an easy 62-29 victory in Section 1A West Sub-Section boys' basketball action.
"They came out very aggressively," said L/P head coach Gary Erlandson, "and we just didn't react well to their half-court trap."
While Bethany shot well throughout the game, their defense also made it hard for L/P to get many decent looks at the basket.
No. 11 seed Lyle/Pacelli got 7 from Joey Greibrok, who hit the team's only three-pointer. They finish the season with a 1-22 overall record.
Bethany was led by 17 from Kevin Warren and 14 from Luke Wiersma. The Eagles, seeded sixth, advance into the sub-section quarterfinals to play No. 3 seeded Blooming Prairie (16-7) Friday night at 8 p.m. at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
