Olga A. Bungum, 89
Olga Ann Bungum, 89, of Austin, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.
She was born Jan. 19, 1914, to Fred and Alma (Geuder) Ortman in Guttenberg, Iowa. She attended schools in the area.
She married Gordon P. Bungum and they lived in Hayfield in the 1930's. In 1941, they moved to Austin. They were members of St. Olaf Lutheran Church where Olga was involved in Bible study and circle. She also liked to sew.
She moved to St. Mark's Lutheran Home in January 1997.
Survivors include daughter, Sharon (Harold) Johnson, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice McConnell, Webster City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Lauria Ortman, Denver, Colo.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Miriam Kientop; and brother, Robert Ortman.
Visitation: One hour before the service Saturday at St. Mark's.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 at St. Mark's Lutheran Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Barnett officiating.
Interment: Grandview Cemetery.
Funeral Home: Worlein Funeral Home, Austin.
Memorials: To St. Mark's Lutheran Home.
Michelle K. Schaefer, 23
Michelle Katherine Schaefer, 23, of Albert Lea, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003.
She was born April 5, 1979, in Coon Rapids, to Greg T. Schaefer and Barbara Sheridan Wright. She grew up in the Albert Lea area, where she attended school. She enjoyed spending time with her son.
Survivors include her son, Sam, Hollandale; parents, Barb (Richard) Wright, Greensboro, N.C.; Greg (Jill) Schaefer, Carson City, Nev.; brothers, Jacob Schaefer, Matthew Liter, Austin Wright and J.D. Stout; family and friends.
Service: 2 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the funeral home with Pastor George Marin officiating.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Austin.

Thomas E. McCloskey, 92
Thomas Eugene "Gene" McCloskey, 92, of Austin, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.
He was born April 2, 1910, in Athol, S.D., to Peter and Elizabeth (Nolan) McCloskey. He graduated from Athol High School in 1930.
On Oct. 12, 1938, he married Catherine C. "Cassie" Crilly.
Gene worked for the George A. Hormel Company in Austin for 42 years before retiring in 1972. He and Cassie also farmed near Rose Creek for over 50 years and owned the Elkton Meat Locker in the early 1950's.
Gene was a member and trustee of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rose Creek and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Rose Creek School Board, the Marshall Township Board, Mower County DFL Treasurer and the P9 Union. He was involved in volunteer work, especially at Burr Oak Manor in Austin.
He enjoyed music and square dancing, fishing, traveling, picnics on the farm and helping people.
Survivors include daughters, Donna (Robert) Johnson, Broadbent, Ore.; Carol (Joe) Hoehn, Worthington; Pat Hanson, Winona; son, Tom (Linda) McCloskey, Dennison; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Cummings, Rochester; sister-in-law, Mildred Malone, Burnsville; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Francis, Paul and Bob (Mary); brother-in-law, Duane Cummings; sisters, Redempta O'Neill (Jim) and Bernadine Fitzgerald (Cyril); in-laws, Leota and Ben Reinartz, Edna and Emmett Thomas, Agnes and Henry Hass, William and Violet Crilly, William Malone.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, with a 6:30 p.m. wake service and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Paul Nelson officiating.
Interment: St. Peter's Cemetery, Rose Creek.
