The Albert Lea boys' swimming and diving team took 11 of 12 events from the host Austin Packers in a 99-85 Big Nine Conference dual victory for the Tigers Thursday night at the Ellis Middle School pool.
Albert Lea swept the top three spots in two events, but Austin's depth in almost every event kept the Packers in contention for the conference meet.
Austin's diving trio of Beau Webber, Ryan O'Leary and Michael Wagner won the top three spots to bring the Packers within two points, 40-38, but the Tigers took first place and tied for second in the following event -- the 100-yard butterfly -- for a 10-point swing in their favor.
The Packers only outscored Albert Lea in three events in falling to .500 for the season with a 4-4 overall and Big Nine dual meet record. The Packers host Rochester John Marshall next Thursday night for their final regular-season meet. Conference will be held Feb. 13 at the Rochester Recreation Center, and Sections are Feb. 27 and March 1 in Inver Grove Heights.
Austin had 2-3-4 finishes in two individual and one relay event. Ethan Simonson, Jacob Rausch and Carl Bauer brought home a 9-7 advantage in scoring in the 200 freestyle, while Bauer, Brian Forman and Erik Hyland earned the same result in the 500 free.
Packer relays took 2-3 in the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle foursome, while the 200 free relay finished 2-4.
