Southland stopped by top-seeded Medford

Top-seeded Medford used a third quarter run to break open a close game against Southland Friday night, prevailing by a score of 52-45.

"It was a close game at halftime," said Southland head coach Slone Suess, "but they had that good third quarter that really made the difference."

Neither side shot very well, especially from the free-throw line. The fouls began to pile up for Southland in the second half, which hurt their already undersized front line.

Amanda Landherr led Southland with 17 points, but most of those came in the first half before foul trouble forced her to sit. Carrie Shawback had 12 points, 10 in the second half.

Southlaned finishes the season at 5-20 overall, while Medford moves into the Sub-Section semifinals against Bethlehem Academy Monday night in Rochester.
