The Lyle-Pacelli boys' tennis team is hoping that its program continues on its upward trajectory.

Under third-year head coach Brian Davis, L/P has been able to notch a few wins despite the difficulty in finding competitive opponents in this area of the state.

This year's edition returns a number of players with a lot of varsity experience, which should help offset the transfer of top singles player Dolan Wagner to Austin.

"We've got a bunch of good players who're very close in terms of ability," said Davis, "so we're probably going to have a lot of lineup changes as the season goes on."

Junior Steve Porter and freshman Brandon Scherer figure to be the the top two singles players for L/P. Eighth-grader Steven Mino should see action at the No. 3 slot, while freshman Brandon Walter rounds out the singles lineup.

Sophomore Nate Lyons, who played last spring at No. 4 singles, figures to team with junior Nic Anderson as the top doubles team.

"We don't have any seniors," said Davis, "but we do have a lot of kids who've been playing since seventh grade who should keep improving."

They begin their season April 10 against Martin County West.
