With numerous financial hurdles in the way, it's encouraging to see progress being made on the Shooting Star Recreation Trail.

Trail supporters gathered this past weekend to celebrate the recent completion of the 9 1/2-mile stretch of the trail from LeRoy to Taopi.

Those associated with the trail, a smooth stretch of pavement ideal for hiking or biking, say there's just about enough funds to stretch the trail from Taopi to Adams. But from there, it's anyone's guess.

Even though we've previously said that state monies need to be closely scrutinized, especially in times of financial difficulty, there's no question this trail is a benefit to our area.

We hope local residents will take advantage of this newest asset to our area and are hopeful others throughout our region will visit the trail as well.
