Riverland Community College representatives Jeff Clark and Joe Hewitt both saved their best scores for the final round at the National Junior College Division III national golf tournament Friday at Chautauqua, N.Y.

Clark, a returning All-American, missed out on repeating said status but played consistently strong. The Austin High School graduate shot an even-par 36 on his first nine holes on Friday and finished in with a 41 for an 18-hole total of 77 -- his best of the four-day, 72-hole tournament. The 5-over-par round left Clark with a total of 314 (81-78-78-77), good for a tie at 27th overall.

Hewitt, making his first appearance at the national level, improved by six strokes from his previous best round at nationals. He shot a 7-over 78 to move up the charts 12 spots for a tie for 74th with a 334 total (86-84-86-78).
