A Hayfield junior sprinter qualified for the class ‘A’ state track and field finals at the state meet in Hamline Friday.

Genessa Heide reached the finals in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.

She finished sixth in the 200-meter dash preliminary with a time of 26.23 seconds and she finished eighth with a time of 12.83 seconds. Heide improved her state qualifying time in the 100-meter dash by six-tenths of a second and she increased her 200-meter dash state qualifying time by four-tenths of a second.

Ashley Tingelstad of Lake Park/Audubon had the best preliminary time in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.11 seconds. Tingelstad also had the best preliminary time in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.99 seconds.
