The Greyhounds (2-10 overall) came up short in a late rally in a 3-2 loss at Miesville Wednesday night in an amateur baseball game.
Austin had runners on second and third with one out in the ninth, but they scored just one on a ground out by Mitch Kaplan. Dave Meyer grounded out to end the game.
“We just couldn’t get that tying run in. But we had a chance,” Greyhounds manager John Frein said. “We just can’t seem to get our bats going right now.”
Miesville took a 3-1 lead with two runs in the third inning.
“If we make a couple of plays, they don’t score,” Frein said.
The Greyhounds scored in the second when Craig Braaten scored on a wild pitch.
The Greyhounds game scheduled for this Friday against Mankato has been postponed and their Saturday game against the Rochester Royals has been moved to 5 p.m. and will be played at Riverland.
