Letter: Austin letter carriers say ‘thank you’

Published 6:18 am Thursday, June 5, 2008

Austin’s letter carriers thank everyone who helped in our recent food drive. First, we thank the citizens of Austin and Mower Co. for your generous donations. You made it possible for families to eat this summer. Getting the word out is invaluable so thank you Austin Daily Herald, KAUS radio, and KAAL-TV for your help. A grateful thank you goes out to the Mayor and City Council for your assistance and proclamation. We thank the Jaycees for your continued interest in the food drive and the 4-H club for your involvement. Individually, we thank Lori Blanton and the Salvation Army volunteers for the guidance and assistance. Thank you Katie Johnson, John Wright, Janet Anderson and your staffs for the personal and special attention. Troy and Lauren Nelson deserve special thanks for the extra help, as do Dan Hines and the postal employees in Dexter, Waltham, and Brownsdale for contributing to the drive. The goal is to keep the food shelves stocked for summer and with the help of these people and organizations we will continue to try to do that each May. Finely, congratulations to Albert Lea for out collecting us but we are closing the gap and look forward to winning next year, to the benefit of those who need it most.
