Davis officially files for U.S. House

First-time candidate Brian Davis filed for the U.S. House of Representatives July 10. According to the press release, Davis was endorsed by the Republican Party last March at the First District Convention; he’ll face state Sen. Dick Day, R-Owatonna, in the Sept. 9 state primary.
U.S. Rep. Tim Walz won the First District in the 2006 election.
Davis, a Rochester resident, worked as a radiologist in oncology at the Mayo Clinic before taking time off to focus on his campaign. According to his Web site, Davis attended the University of Illinois and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 2007, Davis was elected as the Olmsted County Party treasurer. He has not served another public seat, though belongs to and leads multiple medical associations.
