Tim Gabrielson and Kathy Stutzman filed Tuesday for the Mower County Commissioner District 1 seat on the county board.

Ray Tucker filed for the District 2 seat.

Richard P. Cummings, the incumbent 1st District county commissioner, is not seeking re-election.

Gabrielson, an Austin businessman, and Stutzman, a family advocate, are making their debuts in elective office politics.

Since January, Gabrielson has attended every meeting of the county board and make no secret of his plans to seek the 1st District office held by Cummings for 32 years.

Tucker has served three four-year terms on the county board.

Also filing on the first day were incumbent state Rep. Jeanne Poppe, an Austin DFLer, and Brian Thiel, the Republican challenger.

Poppe has served two terms in the Minnesota House, representing House District 27B.

Thiel is making hs debut in elective office politics.
