Gregory G. Corey, 53
Gregory Gene Corey, 53, of Austin, died on Aug. 18, 2008 in Rochester.
Greg was born Feb. 7, 1955 in Winona to Richard and Delores (Pavek) Corey. The family moved to Austin in 1960. Greg attended Austin Public Schools, graduated from Austin High School in 1974, then entered the carpentry program at RCC-then Austin Community College. He completed the course and went on to hold various positions in the carpentry industry. Greg married Marla VanSteenvoort in 1979; the union brought them two sons. They later divorced. Greg and Elizabeth were united in marriage briefly, and later divorced.
Greg was employed at Cedar Valley Services at the time of his death. He had been involved in carpentry here for many years. He greatly enjoyed woodworking, riding his bike and being among family and friends. Greg will be sadly missed, blessed be his memory.
Survivors include two sons, Jeremy (Beth) Corey, Big Lake, Minn., Joseph Corey, Coon Rapids; four brothers, Steve (Cheryl) Corey, Austin, Wayne Corey, Lakewood, Colo., Lee (Helene) Corey, Orangeburg, N.Y., Jay (Tammy) Corey, Austin.
Greg was to become a first-time Grandpa, twice, in November and March. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and good friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Delores Corey as well as his Pavek and Corey grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Money Creek Cemetery in Houston County. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home.
