An Austin man who reported vandalism to his apartment was arrested by local authorities after they discovered he had a warrant stemming from a sex abuse charge in Iowa.
Jathyang Joshua Dilual, 33, has been charged with a single misdemeanor count of fugitive from justice from another state. He is facing proceedings in Woodbury County, Iowa, for one count of sexual abuse in the 3rd degree.
According to court documents, he is being held in jail until an extradition hearing, which hasn’t been scheduled.
Police reports say Dilual called the Law Enforcement Center to report a broken window at his apartment unit, 900 14th St. N.W. He discovered it after returning from a trip from Sioux City, Iowa.
The report said Dilual suspected a woman in a dispute with her nephew. She has not been charged.
Police arrested Dilual Aug. 5 after learning of his warrant.
