The members of the Austin Audubon Society ask for your support of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment in this November’s election. The amendment will put proceeds from a 3/8 percent additional sales tax into a dedicated fund to support water quality, wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation and cultural and historical resources.

We need this dedicated funding. Conservation funding has dropped 47 percent in the past five years. 40 percent of the lakes and rivers tested, fail to meet basic health standards. Forests, prairies and natural areas are being lost to development, ownership changes and division into parcels. Failure to cast a ballot counts as a no vote, so please vote yes this November.
