Riverland falls short against Ridgewater

Ashley Lau led Riverland Community College with eight kills and 14 digs, while Brooke Monson added five kills and 13 digs as the Blue Devils fell at Ridgewater 16-25, 14-25 and 22-25 Saturday.
“We definitely played harder than the scores reflect,” Coach Helen Jahr said. “Playing the number two team in our conference, we didn’t do that bad, although I felt again there could have been some improvement.”
Jahr said serve receive errors have been plaguing her team for most of the season.
With the setback, Riverland is now 9-9 overall and 1-5 in the MCAC South.
Against Ridgewater, Krissy Schemmel contributed two blocks, 14 set assists and 17 digs; Tiffany Preuss added six assists; while Kate Krogh had 13 digs.
“I think there is still state tournament hope for us, we just need to get on top of the next three teams we play, actually four,” Jahr said.
