Austin Board of Education chairman Donald Fox reported on the search for a new superintendent at Monday night’s regular school board meeting.
According to Fox, the search committee has comprised a list of “attributes desired in the new superintendent.”
They include “has a 21st century educational vision for the district” and “has a proven track record as an educational leader.”
The list of attributes was compiled, in part, Fox said, from a survey of administrators, staff and others in the district.
The superintendent’s position is now being advertised.
According to Fox, the search committee hopes to have five or six candidates to present to the school board for consideration in early December and to hire a new superintendent in January 2009.
Dr. Bruce Anderson is the district’s interim superintendent since the departure of Dr. Candace Raskin, who left the district to pursue other educational interests elsewhere.
