Letter: Walz is right for the job

I am very concerned about how regressive Dr. Brian Davis is with his new 23 percent sale tax will be. His plan would tax everything we buy.
This 23 percent sales tax will hit the poor and the elderly the hardest, because they spend a higher percentage of their income. The new 23 percent sale tax will require the middle class to pay even more of their income in taxes. It is incredible to me that Dr. Davis wants a new 23 percent sales tax, while at the same time he is opposed to any new tax cuts for the middle class. It seems to me that now is not the time for us to be making it harder for people to buy the essential items they need to get by. Tim Walz has been working in Congress to get tax cuts for southern Minnesota’s middle class families. He introduced legislation that would give 61 million middle class families an average tax cut of $750. He has worked to expand the Child Tax Credit and to help people who are hit by rising property taxes. Tim Walz has a plan to cut taxes for our middle class. He understands that a new sales tax is a bad idea, and that is why I am supporting Tim Walz.
