David Pehrson, Sr., 57
David Pehrson, Sr., 57, formerly of W. Yarmouth, died unexpectedly in Blytheville, Ark. on Nov. 5, 2008. He was the son of Helen L. Mitchell of South Yarmouth and the late Warren E. Pehrson.
He graduated from Reading Memorial High School in Reading, Mass., in 1969, and from Northeastern University in 1975 with a degree in pharmacy. He was an instructor in the Northeastern College of Pharmacy from 1975 to 1976.
He was married to Cheryl Hodsdon Pehrson from 1972 to 1998. They raised three children: David, Jr., Kristina, and Erik. They lived in Reading and Londonderry, N.H., and owned two drug stores: Londonderry Pharmacy and The Apothecary in Windham, N.H. He was elected to the Reading (Mass.) Board of Health, serving as its director until 1985. He also coached Pop Warner football from 1986 to1989.
They moved to Austin in 1993. He married Debora Kimball Pehrson in 1999. They lived in Austin for six years and moved to West Yarmouth in 2004, delighted to be back in their native New England.
Besides his passion for pharmacy, Dave’s hobbies included gardening, woodworking, football and cooking for his family. He enjoyed a lifelong love of the ocean and New England lakes and spent many happy hours on Lake Ossipee with his family on his boat. Dave was employed as a registered pharmacist for 33 years until he moved to Arkansas in May, 2008, where he resided until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Debora, West Yarmouth; two sons: David W. Pehrson, Jr., Chatham., Erik C. Pehrson, Austin; daughter, Kristina Grace Reuss, Austin; three stepdaughters; Kim Dohrman, St. Petersburg, Fla., Allison Kimball, Decorah, Iowa, Katie Kimball, Pahoa, Hawaii; sister, Susan L. Dureault, Westford, Mass.; four grandchildren: Noah Pehrson, Emma Reuss, Kayla Reuss and Lincoln Rockers all of Austin; niece, Heather L. Grammaticas; nephew, Justin Swimm; cousins: Bruce and Barbara Mellin, Janice Ralston, and Carl and Fran Mellin.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. In the Hallett Funeral Home in South Yarmouth, Mass.
