Gladys Mamie Johnson, 96, died on Nov. 11, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Rochester.
Gladys was born on Aug. 30, 1912, the daughter of Martin and Regina (Skogen) Exe in Dodge County, Minn. She attended Sargeant and Dodge County Schools. Gladys was united in marriage to Roy Johnson on Nov. 12, 1930, in Hayfield, Minn. Gladys and her husband farmed in the Sargeant area. She worked at Maves Rest Home in Hayfield, and in the Hayfield School System. Gladys enjoyed gardening, baking, and being with her family. She was member of the Ladies Aid at Trinity Lutheran Church and also belonged to a Mother’s Club.
Gladys is survived by her two daughters, Lorna Lybeck, Rochester, Minn., Betty Reynolds, Dexter, Minn.; son, Merlin (Lynn) Johnson, Cass Lake, Minn.; sister, Ruth Senjem, Hayfield, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; one infant son; two daughters; two grandsons; one great-great-grandchild; one brother; three sisters and three sons-in-law.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Visitation will be at 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church. The family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Mayo Clinic Hospice or donors choice.
