Lyle businesses to host opening

Mary Witt is holding a holiday grand opening Saturday at FastFrame Gallery and Silver Pear Gift Shoppe, located in the former Helen Velonis Ministries building, 315 First St., Lyle.

Saturday’s holiday grand opening is actually a re-opening. Owner Mary Witt has an interior designer background and operated a custom framing shop in downtown Rochester for 9 1/2 years before opening the new business in Lyle.

“I’m not an artist as far as painting goes, but I think I am an artist in other ways,” Witt said.

Custom framing is one of those ways.

Witt’s attention to detail is well-knowN. She will visit homes to observe the environment where an artistic hanging will take place to ensure the proper ambiance.

Daughter-in-law Cathie Reeves is in charge of the Silver Pear gift shop portion of the twin businesses.

Witt described it as a “high-end” shop with the most unique glassware, benches and other home decor accents.

As far as her own custom framing work, all of it is done in-house, according to Witt with only the finest materials — non-reflective glass, for instance.

Saturday’s holiday open house will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hot cider and other refreshments will be served.

Both FastFrame, a franchised business trademark, and Silver Pear will hold prize-drawings Dec. 18. Shoppers can begin registering Saturday and throughout December.

Regular hours at the businesses will be from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
