A Mapleview couple suffered minor injuries Monday when the Ford Escort they were riding in rolled near the intersection of state Highway 218 South and County Road 45.

According to the Mower County Sheriff’s Department, Roxanne Walterman, 38, was driving with Daniel Walterman, 30, on her way to work in St. Ansgar, Iowa at about 4:43 a.m. when she reported the car began to skid into the west edge of Highway 218 before tipping and rolling completely over, finally going into the ditch.

The car came to a rest on its top.

Deputies, Austin police and firefighters as well as Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the accident and both were transported to Austin Medical Center with cuts and scratches.

Both were wearing seat belts.
