Pearl W. Friis, 89
Pearl W. Friis, 89, of Austin, died on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at Presbyterian Homes Care Center in Spring Park, Minn.
Pearl was born on Oct. 12, 1919 to Niels and Martha (Howard) Christensen in Wentworth, Wis. She graduated from Superior Wisconsin High School in 1937. Before World War II, she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the Department of the Navy and met her future husband, Robert. After the war, she married Robert H. Friis in Austin, on March 31, 1946. After retiring from the Mower County sheriff’s Department, she remained active in her church, bowling and traveling with her family.
Pearl is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra (David) Nielsen, Wayzata, Minn.; grandchildren: Audrey (David) Burger, Weston, Fla. and Scott (Kristin) Nielsen, Prior Lake, Minn. and great-grandson, Noah Nielsen; brother, Howard Christensen, Duluth, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Alice Christensen, Wentworth, Wis. and Helen Christensen, Superior, Wis. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; sisters, Viola Schick, Elizabeth Christensen, Rose Nyman, Nora Smith and brother, Cassius Christensen.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Andrew M. Lindahl officiating. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service. Interment will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Westminster Presbyterian Church or Presbyterian Homes Care Center 4527 Shoreline Drive, Spring Park, MN 55384. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
