Roy E. Carter, 80
Roy E. Carter, 80, of Grand Meadow, Minn., died on January 3, 2009 at the Golden Living Center Rochester Health Care East.
Roy was born on Feb. 3, 1928 in Mower County, to Clarence and Lenore (Kelley) Carter. He attended Grand Meadow Schools and then entered the United States Air Force. After his discharge he attended trade school. On Sept. 3, 1950 he married Maxine “Mickey” Carter at St Olaf Church in Austin. Roy operated Carter Sanitation and owned Roy’s 66 Service, Salvage and Towing of Grand Meadow. After 43 years in business he retired in 1999. His work was his hobby and he enjoyed helping others.
He is survived by his five children, Monnasue “Toodie” (Bob) Bremer, Rochester, Minn., DarcyRae (Rick) Arden, Forrest Lake, Minn., SharaAnn “Sherry” ( Jim) Thorson, Lynnea “Gus” (Wayne) Olson and Shannon (John) Klein all of Grand Meadow; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Permeh, Amir Permeh, Nathan Arden, Nicole Sell, Tyson Arden, Devlan Thorson, Kainun Thorson, Damon Goodsell, Shayna Falck, Jeremiah Falck and Alyx Falck; five great-grandchildren and one brother, Paul (Ingrid) Carter, Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Kimmerey; granddaughter, Sayer Thorson and two brothers, Earl and Joseph.
Funeral services for Roy Edward Carter will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church in Grand Meadow, Minn. with the Reverend Ann Siverling Officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Grand Meadow Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the service at the church.
