Austin High School has announced its Artists of the Month:
Leah Terry
Leah Terry is the daughter of Lee Terry and Heidi and Todd Doe. Terry has been an active member of the Austin High School art department for four years. Since her first day in Studio Art as a freshman, Terry is always pushing herself to improve, staff said. Her work is edgy and exacting. She is constantly thinking outside of the box. As a senior, Terry’s work has become no less edgy, but much more refined.
Terry’s future plans are to attend Le Cordon Bleu in Minneapolis. “Art brings out the best in me,” Terry said. “It lets me express my feelings, and I honestly would not know what I would do without art or my art classes.”
Sage Jungwirth
Sage Jungwirth is the daughter of Amy Jungwirth. Jungwirth is a sophomore, and has been taking art classes for two years. Jungwirth is also a member of the art club. Jungwirth always wants more, staff said. She is readily becoming a complete artist. Her work is neat, clean, very creative and always eye popping, staff said. Jungwirth said that everyone always asks, “Jungwirth, you’re going to be an artist, right?” “I would always respond, yes,” she said.
Jon Crape
Jon Crape, grade 12, is the son of John and Michele Crape. Crape’s senior year has been a eureka occasion in the art department, staff said. He will focus on a project and the result is an awesome success. He seems to master the skill sets of pencil and most notably the pen.
Crape plans to attend Riverland Community College. “Senior Art is possibly one of the best classes I have ever taken,” Crape said. “Senior Art rocks!”
