The last business moving in the downtown Austin acquisition process has closed temporarily.

Anytime Fitness, 202 Fourth Ave. N.E., closed today to move to its new location in the Oak Park Mall. The business is one of several that have relocated or closed permanently to make room for the new Mower County Jail and Justice Center.

Manager Sue Goodnature said she tentatively expects the 24-hour co-ed health club to reopen Tuesday.

“I really do apologize for the inconvenience,” Goodnature said, adding that she is “excited” about the new location, in the former On Cue store between Shopko and the CineMagic Theatre. Owner Jim Struyk signed a one-year lease Feb. 11.

The location is nearly 6,000 square feet and will continue to provide the same services that members are accustomed to, Goodnature said.

Goodnature recommends members call the club phone number at 437-2921 on Monday to confirm its opening date.

Members should use the mall door next to Shopko, commonly used to access the theater after mall hours. Security key cards will still be used, Goodnature said.

Anytime Fitness, 365-days-a-year facility, opened in Austin on May 15, 2006.

It has more than 725 members.
