A $4.9 million addition to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church was one of 19 issued by the City of Austin in February.
The other 18 permits issued by the city amounted to an estimated construction value of $94,097 in February.
The city has issued 40 building permits thus far in 2009 for an estimated $5,647,646 total construction value of the projects.
The impact of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church expansion project cannot be understated.
A year ago at this time, the city issued 12 permits in February 2008 for an estimated $162,630 construction value.
In the first two months of 2008, a total of 35 permits were issued for an estimated $446,938 construction value.
The city issued 23 heating permits in February for an estimated value of $77,328.
Plumbers were issued 12 permits for an estimated $19,905 in work.
Both totals for heating contractors and plumbers are more than double the number of permits and estimated construction values for permits issued by the city in the first two months of 2008.
