A rural Elkton woman was taken to Austin Medical Center early this morning after a one-vehicle accident.

Karlie Anne Hall, 18, was traveling northbound on 650th Avenue toward Interstate 90 just after midnight today when the accident occurred.

According to Mower County Sheriff’s Department reports, Hall said she was being followed by a second vehicle and attempted to speed up in an effort to lose the vehicle when she lost control, left the road and struck an Alliant Energy utility pole.

Hall then said the car stopped but did not make contact and left the scene. She was not able to provide a description of the vehicle.

Hall walked to a nearby home where she called her parents, who took her to AMC as a precaution. Hall was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

The vehicle was towed.
