Hayfield track team breaks a few indoor records in Byron

The Hayfield boys and girls track and field teams made some history at the Byron Indoor Meet in RCTC Thursday.

The boys took second and the girls took third as four school indoor records were broken.

For the boys, Dennis Gilbertson broke the 200-meter dash record and took first with a time of 24.31 seconds, Clint Freiheit broke the 800-meter run record and took first with a time of 2:09.0, and Nate Conroy broke the 1600-meter run and took second record with a time of 4:51.0.

Gilbertson also took first in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.85 seconds and finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.31 seconds.

Hafyield’s 800-meter relay team of Anthony Allee, Adam Kruger, Dan Peterson, and Bobbie Stephens took first with a time of 1:44.80, and Brady Kramer took first in the high jump (5-8) and second in the long jump (17-11.75).

For the girls, Genessa Heide broke the 200-meter dash record and took first with a time of 28.41 seconds. Heide also took first in the high jump, and the 55-meter dash

Taking second for the Hayfield girls were: Courtney Severson in the 800-meter run, and Kiley Severson in the shot put.

Byron won the girls meet with 126 points, while Hayfield had 57 points.

Byron won the boys meet with 82 points, while Hayfield had 70 points.
