A solid pitching performance lifted the Hayfield baseball team to a 7-0 win in Stewartville Tuesday.
Senior hurler Ben Pollock allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out eight in seven solid innings of work. Pollock also went 3-for-4 at the plate to help his cause.
“It was an unbelievable performance by Ben since Stewartville has been scoring like crazy,” Hayfield head coach Craig Selk said. “He had command all night and wherever Travis (Kauffman) put his glove, that’s where the ball went.”
Hayfield (5-4 overall) put up five runs in the sixth to put it away when they drew a walk and rallied for four straight hits to put it away.
Kauffman went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for Hayfield, Tyler Krekling went 2-for-3 with two runs, and Mark Evjen went 3-for-4.
