The Riverland softball team came through with a sweep of St. Cloud Tech (2-14 MCCC South) in Riverland Tuesday.
The Blue Devils (14-9 overall, 8-6 MCCC South) won the first contest 5-0 and took the second game 8-0.
RCC compiled 24 hits and 18 stolen bases as a team.
“It was a nice day for us,” RCC head coach Dave Lillemon said. “We had some nice pitching and hitting and we beat a team we should beat.”
RCC’s Laura Meyer extended her season-long hitting streak to 23 straight games and the Blue Devils now lead the NJCAA in hitting with a .418 average heading into Tuesday.
RCC also had no errors in the two games.
“If we’re going to make any noise at state, we’re going to have to play consistent on defense and we did that today. Hopefully it’s a start,” Lillemon said.
The Blue Devils are currently in third place in the MCCC South with the top four teams advancing to the state tournament.
