Two area bars and a liquor store failed compliance checks over the weekend, which will result in fines and, for two stores, license suspensions.
Mickey’s Place on Second Avenue NE and Belle Liquor on Main both sold alcohol to a minor working for the police department on Saturday, the second violation for each establishment. The two will face $750 fines and will have their liquor licenses suspended for three days.
Torge’s Live Sports Pub on Fourth Street NW picked up their first violation, which will cost them $500.
A store that picks up a third violation faces $1,000 in fines and a week-long suspension. After that, a store can lose its license for further violations.
Police chief Paul Philipp said the minor working for the department can’t lie about his or her age when asked, and does not use a fake ID.
