The Austin Blue Sox picked up another win by beating Chaska 4-1 on the road Thursday.
Austin scored in the second on a Casey Toops RBI-groundout that scored Brian Voigt, who had singled and stolen two bases. The Blue Sox (4-0 overall) added another run when Voigt came up with a run scoring groundout in the fourth.
After Chaska made it 2-1 with a run in the fourth the Blue Sox put it away with two runs in the seventh.
Joe Huffman, picked up the win for Austin, but lefty reliever Ryan Palmer also pitched well against the southpaw-heavy lineup of Chaska to get a three-inning save.
“Pitching’s been very consistent for us so far,” Blue Sox manager Josh Kunze said. “They were starting to hit Joe, so we let Ryan in. You may see us throw as many as four or five guys in one game this year, because we have the depth.”
The Blue Sox will host their fan appreciation game agaisnt Faribault Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Fans will have a chance to win an IPOD Nano, a 2009 River Oaks Golf Membership, a hotel room with a jacuzzi and Twins tickets. There will also be an honorary kids starting lineup, bean bag toss, a baserunning challenge, Blue Sox Trivia, and Deal or No Deal.
