Road work on the Mower County Fairgrounds’ main road could start within a week after a bid for the project was awarded Tuesday.
Rochester Sand and Gravel will restructure the road that runs from the east gate past the grandstand and up to the Plager Building. Their low bid was $156,370.70, about $20,000 less than the engineer’s estimate, county coordinator Craig Oscarson said.
County engineer Michael Hanson said he hopes work will start within a week and end before the fair starts on Aug. 11. Hanson added that work hasn’t been done on the road in at least 11 years.
