Nature center trails reopen

All trails are open at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center, but the visitor center is only partially usable following last week’s tornado damage.
The visitor center will be open for people to use the bathroom, get water or sign up for programs. The main exhibit area, however, remains closed.
All trails are safe to use, but center director Larry Dolphin urged people to stay on them, as there are still a number of hanging branches off the paths.
The paths were cleared Friday and Saturday by crews completing community service work, whom Dolphin and nature center assistant Julie Champlin commended.
“They cut through a lot,” Dolphin said.
The regularly scheduled Thursday Nature Play will run this week, and Dolphin said the Dobbins Creek water level is low enough to rent canoes.
“We’re moving forward,” Dolphin said. “We’re happy about being able to open the trails up.”
