A bid for work to be done at the Arc of Mower County was awarded Monday, paving the way for an expansion.

The Arc, which provides services to intellectually disabled people and their families, will be getting a new 4,600 square-foot home at their 400 Third Ave. N.E. location. The bid for the project was awarded to Alm Construction out of Waseca for $553,000, though there could be a few additional costs.

The expansion will be attached to the east side of the Mower County Senior Center building. Groundbreaking is scheduled for July 27, according to city engineer Jon Erichson, and work is likely to last a little more than four months.
