Thursday was busy with people pitching tents, setting up food booths and readying the Bandshell Park stage as Freedom Fest rolls in.
The three-day festival will feature 92 parade entrants, 20 stage acts, 12 concession stands and more than 20 carnival games, Austin Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sandy Forstner said.
“Sounds like weather is going to be nice,” he said. “We’re expecting a lot of people to come out.”
Friday is “Family Day in the Park,” which will feature numerous family games and stage entertainment from 2 to 10 p.m.
Saturday has the Main Street Independence Day Parade, as well as more music and entertainment at Bandshell Community Park.
The festival wraps up Sunday with a bike race and kids fishing contest.
There will also be fireworks on Friday and Saturday nights.
