Jail to hit next phase

Construction on the new Mower County Jail and Justice Center is expected to hit a new phase Monday or Tuesday as outer walls begin to go up.
The “precast” walls will be shipped in from Des Moines, Iowa, and an on-site crane will lower them into place.
These will be what passers-by see when the project is completed, which is expected by July 2010.
Project superintendent Rich Reding said he expects roughly eight truckloads of the precast walls to be shipped every day from now through October as construction goes forward.
Reding and county coordinator Craig Oscarson both said the roughly $29 million project is on schedule.
