The Austin School Board will meet tonight, their first meeting with new superintendent David Krenz in office.

Krenz took over on July 1 for interim superintendent Bruce Anderson, who served a one-year tenure, and will be faced with replacing two principals who resigned in June as a top priority.

Krenz was raised in Lewiston, Minn., and attended St. John’s University and Winona State University, where he earned administrative degrees. He has spent the past 31 years working in education.

He previously told the Daily Herald that he considers himself a “fair, honest and trustworthy” administrator who enjoys working with others.

“I believe in people,” Krenz said. “I believe in the goodness of people and that they want to do the best they can.”

His first school board meeting as superintendent will be at 6:30 in the Austin City Council Chambers.

Among the agenda items will be a request for approval of a new staff development plan, which would lower the amount of funds required to be set aside this year, and discussion of a new wellness policy for students.
