Work on the Mower County Fairgrounds’ main road is expected to be completed this week, the county engineer said Tuesday.

Michael Hanson said that the stretch, which runs from the east gate near Sixth Avenue Southwest past the grandstand and up to the Plager Building, should be paved and ready for use by Friday.

Hanson added that new sod would be put down on Tuesday or Wednesday near the road.

The project was budgeted at $150,000, Hanson said, and the final price tag will be slightly more than that.

The Mower County Fair starts on Aug. 11.
