The Austin Area Foundation is accepting grant applications until Tuesday. There is nearly $6,000 available for grants for Austin area organizations in the 2009 cycle.

This will be the third year grant dollars have been awarded by the Austin Area Foundation. Any organization in the Mower County area who serves the needs of local people is eligible to apply. Grants are not awarded to benefit an individual citizen.

Applications are available at the Austin Public Library, the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce office and from Peggy Benzkofer, AAF Distribution Committee chairperson, at 433-5934. In the near future, grant applications should become available on the AAF Web site, which is under construction.

Notice of grant awards will be announced in the late fall.
