The Austin Elks Lodge will be holding their first golf tournament Saturday morning, with proceeds going to youth programs.
The benefit tournament will tee off at 9:30 at the River Oaks Golf Course. Teams of four can register for $50 per player.
Exalted Ruler of the Austin Elks Sherri Erickson said about 20 teams are already signed up, but added that the goal is to get 36.
Teams can register up until Saturday at 9 a.m.
Proceeds will be going to a number of Elks-sponsored youth programs, including college scholarships, youth sports and a summer day camp for kids in Brainerd.
The $50 registration is good for 18 holes of golf, as well as post-tournament food and entertainment at the lodge.
That entertainment will come in the form of the band “Rush Hour.”
There will also be some prizes awarded during the tournament, Erickson said.
“It’s really a good deal,” she said.
Erickson added that she hopes the tournament becomes a summer mainstay.
“It’s really an important event,” Erickson said. “We’re very excited.”
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a national social group that supports a number of charitable programs for youth and veterans.
