A Lyle couple returned home Saturday to find their house broken into and their car gone — the latter of which had been taken to Iowa and torched.
David and Crystal Slinde reported that their house on the 100 block of Fourth Street had been broken into and their Dodge Magnum stolen from the garage while they were away, according to a sheriff’s report.
The couple had left Friday for a motorcycle trip and returned around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
When they called the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, they were told their car had been found earlier that day in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
The car had been burned and a number of items reported missing from the house — including a TV and a stereo — were left inside the vehicle, according to the report.
Sheriff Terese Amazi said Monday that there were no possible suspects at this time.
