‘Deficient’ Lansing bridge will be replaced

A new bridge is expected to come to Lansing Township near Murphy Creek, with work slated to begin next summer.
The current 80-year-old bridge, which carries County Highway 45 over the creek, will be replaced, and the incoming road will be upgraded and possibly widened — a renovation that is part of a larger $3 million road overhaul in the area, funded largely by state and federal dollars.
The Mower County board on Tuesday passed a resolution declaring the “deficient” bridge a priority to be replaced.
County engineer Mike Hanson said the project will take all of summer 2010 and will be phased so as to minimize the inconvenience to drivers.
