A kitchen fire led to an Austin apartment being evacuated because of smoke Saturday.
According to a report, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when a 21-year-old woman passed out while cooking a hamburger, according to a police report.
A 27-year-old friend said she and the 21-year-old woman were out drinking earlier with friends, but they took the 21-year-old to the apartment when she became overly intoxicated.
The 21-year-old woman was the only one in the apartment at the time of the fire.
The grease fire created a lot of smoke, and residents at the 1202 Fourth St. N.W. property were evacuated.
The Austin Fire Department responded and ventilated the building.
