An Albert Lea man wanted for allegedly firing a gun into the air to threaten his girlfriend was arrested Thursday night.
The 25-year-old was apprehended at Bremerton Townhomes at around 11 p.m. after someone called police and said the man was there.
He was arrested at gun-point but went peacefully, according to a police report.
The man was found to have 16.8 grams of methamphetamine on him, as well as $1,300 cash. Those items were seized.
A night earlier, the man allegedly fired a number of shots into the air near Casey’s General Store on 12th Street Southwest.
His 24-year-old girlfriend had called police earlier to report that he had assaulted her. She called police back while they were en route to report that the man had fired a number of rounds into the air.
Police arrived and searched the area near a home on 16th Avenue Southwest. One shell was recovered, but police have reason to believe someone had picked up a number of other shells, Chief Paul Philipp said Thursday.
The gun used was a 40-caliber handgun.
The man will likely be charged Friday with felony counts of drug possession and reckless discharge of a firearm, as well as assault.
