The Pacelli girls tennis team blanked Shattuck-St. Mary’s 7-0 on the road Thursday.

The Shamrocks (2-5 overall) won five of the seven matches in two sets and No. 1 singles player Lisa Johnen won her match 6-1, 6-1.

“Lisa wasn’t as sharp today as in some of her other matches, but she played through it very well. She stayed aggressive which is a testament to her mental toughness,” Pacelli head coach Mark Henderson said.

Steph Kocer picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 4 singles and the top doubles team of Mindy Nguyen and Lindsey Chapek cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win.

“Steph is playing with a lot of confidence right now,” Henderson said. ”Hopefully she can keep that going through the rest of the season. Mindy and Lindsey have had a couple of tough losses this year, so it was nice to see them bring their best tennis today.””

Pacelli’s seventh graders got the first win of their careers as Maggie Leif teamed up with junior Selin Yegin to get a win at No. 3 doubles and Tiffany Hoesing won an exhibition singles match 6-1.
