Packers blank Winhawks soccer team on the road

The Austin boys soccer team had another tough match on their slate, but this time they pulled through with a 2-0 win at Winona Thursday.
The Packers (2-2 overall, 1-2 Big Nine) got on the board nine minutes into the game when Alex Klock fired in a cross from Martin Mannochio and they added their second goal when Rolando Rubio knocked in a cross from Jacob Brehmer nine minutes into the second half.
“We’ve had three tough games in a row and to shutout Winona on the road is a good thing,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “It’s not like we needed to change what we where doing, we just had to keep doing it and do it better.”
The Winhawks (3-3 overall, 1-3 Big Nine) had were held to just three shots on goal in the first half. Austin keeper Ryan Rasell finished with 13 saves.
The Packers attempted 22 shots on the night.
